A 20-year Hy-Vee veteran, Angie Nelson began her career working as a registered pharmacist. In the years following, she was promoted to different management roles throughout the company, serving as a pharmacy manager, store director, pharmacy supervisor and vice president of pharmacy operations. Today, Angie serves as Hy-Vee’s senior vice president of pharmacy, overseeing the company’s more than 275 retail pharmacy locations across eight Midwestern states.

Throughout her career, Angie has helped implement a number of pharmacy innovations, including an online vaccine scheduler, artificial intelligence technology and machine learning models to improve patient adherence. In 2019, she helped lead the effort to secure drug take-back receptacles at all Hy-Vee pharmacies. In 2020, Angie led Hy-Vee’s COVID-19 response efforts, introducing new pharmacy services like drive-thru flu shot clinics, prescription delivery, ship-to-home services, COVID-19 testing and more.

Angie also helped secure Hy-Vee’s role as a Federal Retail Pharmacy Partner, allowing Hy-Vee’s pharmacy staff to administer millions of the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines to individuals across the Midwest. Under Angie’s leadership, the company also hosted hundreds of pop-up vaccine clinics, utilizing its fleet of mobile health units to increase health care access for rural and underserved communities.

Angie has been named one of Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery twice, a Drug Store News Top Woman in Health, Wellness and Beauty twice, and one of Mass Market Retailers., Most Influential Women. She was also named a 2022 Gold GLOBEE Hero of the Year.
